local restaurants

There are many restaurants and bars in Coral Bay and the surrounding areas for all tastes and budgets. If you do not want to travel too far, there are a several good restaurants within walking distance in Peyia village Square including those listed below: (ask about the short cut into Peyia Village Square)

The Peyia Tavern - a traditional Greek restaurant, looks rustic from the outside, serves good fresh cooked food at really good prices and very popular with the locals (lamb chops are huge and amazing and lots of them!).

The Mill is a great wine bar, with live music once a week (usually on a Thursday), including Santana, Thin Lizzy, David Bowie etc you will not want to miss it! There is also a fashionable cafe/bar called Urisi, which is in Peyia Square. Peyia Square is up the road from us, down the road is the Brewery Bar, serves food(great live music) next to the Bakery in Peyia and Haris, a restaurant and open air bar around a swimming pool is very popular.

The Grande, is a traditional restaurant, really good prices and great food (especially the pork chops!), with Greek music and lovely atmosphere is located behind the Jail pub in Peyia.

All the above you could walk to, although we would drive to the Grande, but well worth it when you get there.

Saavas a local Greek Restaurant is a little further in Peyia village  but is great fun and they have Greek dancing twice a week. You will need to drive or get a taxi to Saavas - taxi details in apartment.

There are lots of really good restaurants in Coral Bay which is up to 5 minutes drive away - including a fabulous Italian - Trattoria La Vigna , and Lekanto, and Neo's (if you like steak, it is cooked in front of you and is fabulous) - more details in our apartment, or all the above can be found on Trip Adviser.

If you like Indian food - I would also recommend Poppadums which is on Tomb of the Kings Avenue on your left and is easily identifiable by the palm trees outside with red neon lights. I would also highly recommend Gustoso, which is on Tomb of the Kings Road (Neon Green sign) - really good value, fabulous food and lots of it!

All of these restaurants mentioned above can be found on Trip Advisor.

There are also a variety of restaurants at Paphos harbour, most of them specialise in fish caught that day but also cater for those not wanting fish! The harbour is a lovely place to visit and as well as the restaurants and bars there is the UNESCO world heritage site at the harbour which is similar to Pompeii but on a smaller scale and well worth a visit and the entry price is about 6 Euros (entrance is behind the old part of the harbour, near the Castle).

At the small fishing port, Agios Georgios there is a lovely restaurant overlooking the Harbour (pictures of the restaurant at sunset during October are on my slide show) where you can see the sunset and have a really good meal and is reasonably priced. The boats here and also at Latchi are so lovely and old and still used every day and have the traditional nets. Agios Georgios is about 15-20 minutes drive. I have provided maps in the information book in the apartment - so easy to find your way around and like the UK they drive on the same side of the road.

There are 2 local takeaways in Peyia village. There is also a famous bakery within walking distance, selling pizzas, pies, breads and cakes which are baked daily on the premises. There is also a delivery service from several local restaurants - details in the apartment.

Remember we also have a bbq. We have found that one of the local supermarkets (Philipos - turn right at the roundabout near Coral Bay), has a butcher and fishmonger and sells fabulous steaks including T-bone steaks which can be cut to order and are enormous, plus fresh fish including sea bass and all reasonably priced, and are prepared for you. They also provide a free taxi service to get you home, and  sell everything! A wonderful way to end the day, bbq on the balcony, and then a stroll to one of the bars in Peyia. There are a further 2 local supermarkets, bakery, and pharmacy within walking distance.

For the more lively, there are many bars and restaurants in Bar Street in Kato Pafos, near the harbour. There are also a few nightclubs in Bar Street.
